What I tried
Sam builds a map of your life from your notes, chats and calendar, and keeping that map current costs money. To cut the cost, a nightly clean-up was set to drop events older than thirty days.
What I found
That would have erased the thing people love most. The moments when Sam connects today with something from months ago, in your own words, are what make it feel like someone who knows you. A thirty-day memory is just a to-do list.
What I changed
Nothing is deleted for being old. The past stays; the cost is controlled by how far back Sam reads for a given job, not by what it keeps. Clean-ups remove junk only.
What I’d do next
Make reading the past smarter rather than cheaper: bring back the right old thing at the right moment, instead of more of everything.
